KI EcoCenter is run by a diverse, intergenerational group of dedicated staff, students, and community teachers. Our organization’s first priority is developing the skills and personal discipline within our own group so that we can better serve a broader community.
KI’s mantra is “Community Empowerment Through Self Mastery”. It highlights our focus on learning from one another to improve our work and sharpen our skills to create the change we want to see in our community and the world.
Each member of our crew has their own unique passions, skills, and roles they play within the organization. To meet each individuals learning needs, build teamwork, and manage projects our organization is split into three academies:
KI Community School & The Baby Baller Internship
The KI Community School believes that an Individualized education is the prototypical model for an ideal education. Not exclusively for students with special needs as the traditional school model suggests rather, an educational standard for all students aspiring to improve. For more information check out the KI Community School Website.
The Baby Baller Internships focuses on developing young social entrepreneurs. This development includes classes on social documentation, effective communication, community outreach, project management and business incubation. These young entrepreneurs range in age from 10 – 16.
Bootstrapping for Visionaries
Bootstrapping for Visionaries prepares young adults to be self determined leaders in a perceived resource scarce environment. The development of skills and methods that foster team building and collective intentionality are the desired outcomes for this academy. The Bootstrappers meet collectively every two weeks to discuss projects, challenges, methods and future objectives.
Legacy Academy
The Legacy Academy serves the very unique senior population who strive improve upon the legacy they have created thus far. Placing this group of unique seniors in an inter-generational environment provides them the greatest change to impact the youth and develop inter-personally.
